Wisdom Wednesday

Be sure you buy a horse suited to your needs. If you want a trail horse, don't buy a horse bred to work. They will not be fulfilled packing you down the trail. Can they do it? Yes. Will they get bored and get themselves in trouble? Probably. It's like putting a border collie in an apartment. Some horses are bred to work. They need a purpose and a job. Some horses need a single human to interact with and become overwhelmed by different people. They would not fit well in a lesson program. But they are probably perfectly happy and functional with their human. If you buy a 17.1 hand jumper and decide you want to work cows, you will probably be frustrated.
