Trainer’s Tip

Don't mount a horse that says no. If your horse is dancing around the mounting block, trying to walk away while mounting, or showing signs of tension, don't mount. You need to ask why the horse is not accepting you in the saddle. You should not force the horse, just push through or discipline them. Is there pain? Do you have a problem with ill fitting tack? Are they worried about the rider? Do they not know how to balance while a ride mounts? Are they weak in their thoracic sling and can't stand still while adding weight?
