I’m having to doctor an eye on one of the broodmares. Sedation is not advised this close to foaling. She has to have multiple medications multiple times a day. Getting 4 medications in at each doctoring session was starting to become difficult. She was good for the first two but then fought me. I outsmarted her. My day started at 6:30 with chores. I pulled into the house at 8p with a trailer of client horses. My assistant and I worked 5 horses, taught two lessons, we fed the farm, then I loaded two horses to be on the road to the vet by 2:45p. I pulled back into from the vet at 8p.

You can’t train pain

There is a difference between reacting and responding.  Reacting comes with emotion.  Response comes with thoughtfulness and learning.

Horses use compensation as a protection. Sometimes it is from an injury. Sometimes it is from how they are ridden. Sometimes it is from how they are housed. There are many reasons that horses compensate.
