Tarrin's Thoughts - Struggle is necessary for growth
Riding is hard. If it were easy, everyone would be experts. Getting on the back of a large flight animal takes some bravery. Sometimes we have to be braver than we want to be. Horses can only respond to the information they are receiving. That includes our emotions. Sometimes we have to be more persistent than we want to be. Horses will challenge us when they feel confused, insecure or our request is hard. There will be days when we have to push past and through the r

I don't believe in over supplementing horses. We have consistently fed ExcelEQ for close to 6 years. Both the original formula and Pre Elite are great. We use it for the dogs too. Use code Warren5 for a discount. Excel Supplements - Premium Camelina Oil for Horses, Dogs & Healing

The cost of foals
Why isn’t buying a foal cheap? I’ll attach post 1 at the bottom. Foals sometimes come out and everything is perfect. Sometimes they come out and we have issues to resolve. Sometimes they are here for a bit and need some support. Foal 1 this year struggled with nursing. While she didn’t create an additional expense, it took several hours of investment. If I billed those hours, getting her nursing and stable cost about $375. That’s just day 1. She developed a terrible case o

Tarrin’s Thursday Thoughts - The session after a bad day
Our attitude has a pretty big outcome on a session with our horse. Monday wasn’t good for most of my horses. Tuesday it stormed, so I opted not to work them because I didn’t want the storms to create a repeat of Monday.

Connections Clinics with Lorre
I love these clinics! It is fun to see a like-minded group of people get together and learn. The conversations and comradery are an added benefit. This is a safe environment to learn more about the inside of your horse and figure out how to influence your horse with training to build what we are learning about. I love those that bring their horses and gets hands on experience. The auditing option gives people opportunity to observe and decide if they want to participate

Tarrin's Thoughts - There are tough days
Yesterday was a tough day. The horses had a week off due to my anniversary and lesson schedule. I moved some horses and cows around to utilize our grass better. I had one of 4 horses act like they had a brain.

Running a Foal IgG - Master video
Foals are basically born without an immune system. They rely on the mare’s colostrum for antibodies. Their intestinal lining can only absorb the antibodies for the first 12hrs. If the foal ends up with failure of passive transfer (didn’t absorb antibodies) their odds of survival without IV plasma are slim. I’ve had the ability to run IgG on the farm for awhile. I upgraded systems last year. It costs me about $40 a test. It is literally a life saving test. Foals are a lot of w

Schedule updates
We are finished with 1/4 of the year 😳 I am booking lessons for May. April is 90% full. I have 3 weekend lesson spots left in April and a couple week day spots. I am not taking any rehab horses until August at the earliest. I am not taking any full time training horses until August at the earliest.
