We are sweltering in Texas with high humidity and high temperatures. Most of us are riding in the early morning and later in the evening. I don't know about you, but my horses are still getting hot. One tip I have is to hose your horse prior to riding. Most of us are great at hosing after, but hosing before can help create a cooling affect in the early part of the ride. We need to do our best to keep our horses comfortable in these uncomfortable conditions. Give frequent breaks and be sure to monitor your horse's breathing for any signs of distress.
