Don’t get yourself in a jam when there is an emergency. The quick release trailer ties are very popular. I see them being used incorrectly on a regular basis. Most safety trailer ties only have a quick release on one end. Many people attach that end to the halter. This becomes a problem in a true Emergency. Your horse will be pulling back or down. To release the horse you have to reach the head. That puts you in danger. 1000lbs of flailing legs and shaking head. Instead attach the quick release to the tie ring in the trailer. That way in an emergency the quick release is easily accessible. For added quick release power, tie a double loop of bailing twine to the tie ring. Attach the quick release to the bailing twine. If the horse truly gets in trouble, the bailing twine will break.

Thank you. I have been arguing with certain family members about that. BUT, I hadn't figured out that baling wire trick, so I was having trouble attaching the trailer tie the right way to my tie rings. I'll fix that now!
