Today I was cleaning up water in the bathroom. I started with a dry sponge. It didn’t want to absorb water very well while it was dry, stiff and crusty. Once I stimulated the sponge by putting it under running water. The sponge full of water would not absorb more water. It just made a bigger mess. I squeezed the excess water out of the sponge. Even though the sponge was wet, it absorbed the water I was trying to clean up better than when the sponge was dry and crusty. The sponge absorbed the water when I released the pressure on the sponge vs when I squeezed it tight.
