Trainer’s Tip Tuesday

Telegraphing and Intention. These subjects have come up several times recently. A common comment I hear is "I didn't ask them for that." Sometimes I have a rider correct a horse because the horse picked up a gait the rider hadn't intended to ask for. Very often in these situations I could read the rider's intention in their body even if they didn't know they were telegraphing that intention to their horse. The horse gets corrected for responding too soon and then is reluctant when the rider intentionally asks.
