Well 2026 is turning into a whirlwind. I’m just along for the crazy ride. I am booking about 80% of my normal lesson load for June. I’m still regrouping from my Dad passing and trying to plan his services in July. If you have not booked June yet, message me ASAP. July I will have limited lesson availability. 730 days of consistency. If you buy a new horse, it’s going to take 104 weeks for them trust you and feel secure. That means showing up on the good days and the BAD days.

If you have conditioned your horse and created a good foundation for where you are going, new things should not be a fight. If you are fighting with your horse over new skills, stop. Evaluate. Are you expecting too much too soon? Did you skip a step? Are you expecting your horse to complete a task they are not fit enough to do? Are you being clear? Are you pushing too hard?

Why isn’t buying a foal cheap? I’ll attach post 1 at the bottom. Foals sometimes come out and everything is perfect. Sometimes they come out and we have issues to resolve. Our attitude has a pretty big outcome on a session with our horse. Monday wasn’t good for most of my horses. Tuesday it stormed, so I opted not to work them because I didn’t want the storms to create a repeat of Monday.

I love these clinics! It is fun to see a like-minded group of people get together and learn. The conversations and comradery are an added benefit. This is a safe environment to learn more about the inside of your horse and figure out how to influence your horse with training to build what we are learning about. I love those that bring their horses and gets hands on experience. The auditing option gives people opportunity to observe and decide if they want to participate

Yesterday was a tough day. The horses had a week off due to my anniversary and lesson schedule. I moved some horses and cows around to utilize our grass better. I had one of 4 horses act like they had a brain.

I get asked why I charge so much for my foals. Here are some reasons:

Foals are basically born without an immune system. They rely on the mare’s colostrum for antibodies. Their intestinal lining can only absorb the antibodies for the first 12hrs. If the foal ends up with failure of passive transfer (didn’t absorb antibodies) their odds of survival without IV plasma are slim. I’ve had the ability to run IgG on the farm for awhile.
